Day 23

While waiting for the winds to subside, we walked back and forth down to the kayaks (10 minute walk each way), bringing with us drybag after drydag of clean and dry clothes, tenting supplies, kitchen equipment, and food. Viri, the hospitable guesthouse manager from Spain, boiled a dozen eggs for us to take with us. Since the winds were strong until evening, we decided to watch the first set of the Nadal/Ruud French Open finals match in the the bar together with Viri (who was, of course, rooting for Nadal). We were finally in the boats and paddling again around 5:00pm. The weather got better and better, and after 30 kilometers, we were tired and found a nice place to set up our tent. The tide was low and it was a very long, rocky way from the water to the campsite. Thankfully, Bergliot realized that we could find some driftwood to lay under the kayaks and roll them up the beach, instead of a laborious effort carrying them while balancing on boulders. We had a late dinner and then the snoring began.
